BME Project

Black and minority ethnic group

We work with Adults and Young People with a learning disability from Black and Minority Ethnic Communities in lots of different ways.

We can help you by:

Getting to know you and listening to what you say

Giving you information about your rights and cultural choices that you might want to make

Working with you to help other people understand you better

Helping you to make your own choices

Helping you to speak up and be heard

Helping you get the services you need

We also run training and workshops for groups of people who use day services or supported living. These are to help you think about:

  • If you are being talked to in the right way.
  • If you are being treated in the right way.
  • The way you talk to people and the words you use.
  • Words that might hurt people's feelings.
